HOW TO: Get Married In Estes Park, Colorado (Larimer County)

The process to get married in Larimer County is a relatively simple one. First, you will need to make sure that you are eligible to marry in Larimer County. Second, you will need to contact the Larimer County Clerk and Recorder’s office and schedule an appointment with them. You will also need to bring your identification documents with you when meeting with them. Finally, after meeting with the clerk and recorder’s office, they will be able to issue your marriage license.

You should bring all of your identification documents along with you when going into the office so that they can verify your identity before issuing a marriage license.

Before The Ceremony: Before your ceremony, both parties must meet with the office to sign the license application. You do not have to be a Colorado resident to apply for a civil union or marriage license.

Ceremony: Couples who wish to self-solemnize their union or marriage may do so in the state of Colorado. Civil union or marriage licenses issued in Colorado are only valid in the state, and cannot be used in other states or countries.

License: The person officiating the marriage or civil union must complete the certificate and return the license to the County Clerk and Recorder within 63 days of the ceremony. The license may be returned by anyone.

After the Ceremony: The license will be recorded and imaged by our Fort Collins office once it has been returned to one of the Clerk and Recorder offices. Please allow 3-4 days for the recording process to be completed.
